Oscar Performances 2013: ‘Les Miserables’ & More — Vote For Your Favorite

While everyone knew that the talented cast of ‘Les Miserables’ would be taking the stage for a dramatic performance, it was a surprise to see a sexy number from ‘Chicago’ by Catherine Zeta-Jones and a heartfelt performance from ‘Dream Girls’ by Jennifer Hudson. Which was your favorite?

When John Travolta took the stage to introduce a performance of great musical movies, we all expected Les Miserables. However, the stars of Les Mis weren’t the only ones to grace the stage in a song-and-dance number.

Beginning the performances by looking back at musical movies, 43-year-old Catherine Zeta Jones sang a scandalous version of “All That Jazz” from the hit film Chicago. It was followed by a powerful performance by Jennifer Hudson singing “And I’m Telling You” from the movie Dream Girls, which JHud won an Oscar for in 2010.

‘Les Miserables’ Takes The Oscars Stage

Then came the main attraction, when the entire (huge) cast of Les Miserables joined on stage for their first ever live performance together.

Hugh Jackman began the Les Miserables performance of “Suddenly” under the spotlight, followed by Best Supporting Actress winner, Anne Hathaway‘s “I Dreamed a Dream.” Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Samantha Barks, Russell Crowe, Aaron Tveit, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Helena Bonham Carter all joined together on stage for “One Day More.”

However, we already knew they could all sing their hearts out since the music in the film wasn’t pre-taped.

“That’s what the Oscars are all about,” producer of the show Neil Meron told USA Today on Feb. 22′s rehearsals about the dramatic performance. ”To have these sort of events. Not just the reunion of the cast, but singing together like this for the first time is very, very significant.”

The performance was also joined by cast members of the Broadway and British productions of the musical.
