Literal Please with a Cherry on Top  thanks  1251404822say-youre-sorry

When saying thank you, action can speak louder than words.

Some friends invite you over and serve you a delicious dinner. Someone loans you his car while yours is being repaired. You are sick, and a friend brings you a meal and cares for you. How do you show your gratitude?

Sometimes simply saying thank you is enough. Other times, it is thoughtful to say thank you in a more specific way. Be sure to tell that person what it is youappreciate and why you appreciate it.

Here are some common ways to say thank you. You can write a thank-you note. People are very busy these days. A handwritten note shows you took the time to tell someone you appreciate him or her. Or you can call and thank the person. You would be surprised how this can make someone’s day. Another idea is to send a thank-you e-mail or e-card. This is not quite as personal, but is still shows your appreciation.

To say thank you in a creative way, you can:

          1. Select some flowers from you garden or the florist. Attach a thank-you note.

          2. Present the person with a basket of fresh fruit or a homemade treat.

          3. Treat a friend to a movie, meal, snack or coffee.

          4. Give a gift card for a bookstore or a restaurant. That way the person can pick out a favorite book or eat out.

          5. Find out what the person likes and give something related to that. For example, if your friend likes to go shopping, offer to baby-sit her kids so she can

              enjoy an afternoon away.

          6. To say a big thank you to someone, throw a party or have a barbecue in honor of that person.

As you can see, there are many ways to say thank you. Think of some ways of your own. You will feel good trying one of the ideas, and the person being thanked will feel good too. It’s a win-win situation!

By the way, if you want to say thank you using clever English idioms, try these”

  1. Give a large candle with the note: “No one holds a candle to you!”

  2. Give a rock that you painted with the saying: “Thanks. You rock!”
